Once you have registered your domain name and it is within your partner account you may wish to start using the domain in order to give yourself a presence on the Internet. With your Total Registrations account you can set up free web forwarding as follows: -
A simple holding page, which will display one page confirming that the domain has been registered
or
Automatically redirect the domain to your personal web space.
On both options we offer a cloaking or non-cloaking option. When you have cloaking enabled, the domain name remains in the browser address bar, even though it has been redirected to other web space. So for example if you have set up web forwarding as follows: -
Web redirect example.com to http://www.someisp.com/yourname/
(with cloaking enabled)
When the person types in www.example.com the pages at http://www.someisp.com/yourname/ will be displayed, but www.example.com will remain in the browser address bar. This has the advantage that the user is unaware he has been redirected to another web address, gives a professional look to your web site, and can save you money on your web hosting.
If cloaking was not enabled then once the user had typed www.example.com the address http://www.someisp.com/yourname/ would appear in the browser address bar. By default cloaking is enabled, but if there are situations where this is not required this can be switched off easily via your account.
One final feature we offer with cloaking is the ability for you to define the Meta tags that are used by search engines. We allow you to define the title of the page, a description and keywords. This will help to ensure that search engines index your cloaked web forwarding correctly.
To take advantage of web forwarding simply login into your partner account and click the 'web forwarding' link on the domain details page.
You can change the settings of your web forwarding as often as you wish and there are no limits on the amount of traffic that will be forwarded. Changes to your web forwarding will take approximately 15 minutes to become active.
To use the web forwarding service you will be required to change the name servers associated with your domain to ns1.totalregistrations.com and ns2.totalregistrations.com. When changing name servers this can take up to 48 hours to propagate around the Internet.
