.EU Pre-Registration

Total Registrations will shortly be in a position to offer a pre-registration service for the .EU domain in the form of its Sunrise Submission Service (SSS) and its Landrush Submission Service (LSS). The SSS is dependent on whether you hold a Trade or Service mark whilst the LSS is open to all interested parties wishing to register a .EU domain.

Sunrise Submission Service

This service allows Trademark and Service mark owners the ability to submit their pre-registration domain requests to us and we will track and monitor the progress of the application during either the phase one or phase two of the sunrise process. A web Interface will be provided which will guide you through the process and ensure you submit all the correct documents to us for submission to the Registry for verification. The cost of this service is £110+VAT and the first years Domain Name fees of £14+VAT. The domain name fees will be refunded should your application not be successful.

The SSS is available to the following applicants only:

Phase 1:

Registered Trademark - The application must coincide with the exact Registered National Trademark within the EC or a Registered European Community Trademark. If the registered trademark is more than one word, an applicant may opt to apply for the domain name as a one-word string or incorporate a hyphen/s between the word/s of the trademark.

Public bodies - The application must match that of the full name of a public body; or the acronym by which a public body is commonly known; or if applicable, the territory which is governed by a public body. Public bodies shall include: institutions and bodies of the community, national and local governments, governmental bodies, authorities, organisations and bodies governed by public law, and international and intergovernmental organisations. Only under these criteria may the public body or holder/licensee of the prior right concerned under Phase 1 of the Sunrise Period apply for an application.

Phase 2:

Any entity that is entitled to apply for a .EU domain under the criteria as denoted in the Phase 1, may also apply in Phase 2. In addition, entities that are holders of "other prior rights" that are protected under the national law of the Member State where they are held may apply in Phase 2. The "other prior rights" are as follows:

Unregistered trademarks
Trade names
Company names
Business identifiers
Distinctive titles of protected literary and artistic works.

Land Rush Service

The Landrush Submission Service (LSS) provides Registrants with the ability to register a .EU domain name with no supporting Trade or Service mark. This service is divided into two distinct phases encompassing pre-registration LSS and Registration LSS.

Pre-Registration LSS - This service allows you to pre-register your .EU domains prior to the Landrush period beginning. Each .EU domain pre-registered under the LSS is queued until the Landrush period starts. Once the Landrush period commences all pre-registration LSS domains will be processed. The pre-registration LSS domains are divided into Premium and Standard domains. Each pre-registration LSS domain type will have its own queue. So a premium pre-registration LSS domain will have its own queue as will a standard pre-registration LSS domain. The reason for separate queues is that when the Landrush period begins, Total Registrations will process its Premium queue first. Coupled with this the Premium queue will open for pre-registrations prior to the Standard queue being opened. The Standard queue will only be opened for pre-registrations once the Premium queue has been closed. In both cases whether you pre-register a Premium pre-registration LSS domain or you opt for the Standard pre-registration LSS domain, the system will only allow one request in each queue for each domain. Thus ensuring you will not be in competition with any other potential registrants at Total Registrations. To register a Premium domain under the pre-registration LSS will cost £100+VAT application fee and a £14+VAT domain name registration fee (one year only). Should your application not be successful you will be refunded the domain name fee. To register a standard domain under the pre-registration LSS will cost £10+VAT application fee and a £14+VAT domain name registration fee (one year only). Again should your application not be successful then you will be refunded the domain name fee.

Registration LSS - This service allows you to register domains in the Landrush period only when the pre-registration Landrush queues have been processed and the queues are empty. As the processing of pre-registrations could take several days the registrations taken during the Landrush phase will be queued until the pre-registration Landrush queues have been processed. Again only one registration request can be accepted per domain during this phase. Once the Registration LSS queue has been processed and is empty then registrations will be in real-time. The cost to register a .EU domain under the Registration LSS will be £14+VAT (one year domain fees only) and no application fee will be payable. For those domains that fail to get registered during this period a refund will be given for the full amount of £14+VAT.
