Total Registrations has been an ICANN Accredited Registrar since 1999. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) was born out of the submission of ideas to the US Department of Commerce on how the Internet could be governed. Total Registrations was one of the small number of world respondents to the Request For Comments on this topic and out of this ICANN was born. To become a registrar Total Registrations had to go through an Accreditation process which initially meant that you had to submit your ideas on how you might maintain your data and how you might backup this data for disaster recovery purposes. This requirement has since been ratified to ensure all registrars submit their full database to escrow on a regular basis. This ensures continuity of business for domain name holders should a registrar ever be unable to continue offering domain services. Total Registrations is proud to be one of the early contributors of this process and many others and although not heavily involved in the ICANN strategy these days can still say we were there when it all started.
Total Registrations was the first UK ICANN Accredited Domain Registrar to offer domain names direct from the registries. It was also one of the first in the world to become accredited. It has its own in house software which has been developed over ten years to provide registration and domain management services. Its web interfaces have proved a hit with its customers and have improved over the years using valuable feedback from its customers. We shall continue to develop these services as the years go on and shall keep abreast of new developments at ICANN to ensure we meet the new and exciting changes to come. In particular ICANN is to focus its attentions on the opening up of the domain name space to allow new domain extensions and thus we shall adopt these changes as soon as practical to ensure our customers get the most diverse service offerings available.
